The Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Macedon held April 10, 2014 at the Town Complex, 32 Main Street, in the Village of Macedon and 16246 Citrus Parkway, Clermont, FL. was called to order by Supervisor William H. Hammond at 7:30 p.m.

Palmyra Troop 96 attended the Town Board meeting to earn their government badge.  They had the opportunity to ask the board questions.

 

Scott Cameron from Catholic Charities of Wayne County spoke regarding Positive Attitude and Responsible Citizen Program (PARC).  This is an anti-bullying program being implemented in the Pal-Mac School District and community.  They are trying to attract Macedon vendors to participate in this program by providing a safe place for children to go when they are out in the community.

 

Chief John Colella introduced Captain Richard Ryan and Officer McCabe from the Irondequoit Police Department. They presented Officer Stephen MacNeal “Officer of the Month December 2013” award.

RESOLUTION NO. 118 (2014) PROPOSED LOCAL LAW NO. 1 (2014) PUBLIC HEARING SET – OVERRIDE THE TAX LEVY LIMIT

RESOLVED the Town Board schedule a public hearing on April 24, 2014 at 7:45 p.m. to hear public comment on proposed Local Law No. 1 (2014) entitled a local law to override the tax levy limit established in General Municipal Law 3-c.

Supervisor Hammond presented a grant for CBDG Company that would create jobs for low to moderate income families.  It was the consensus of the board to allow Supervisor Hammond to apply for the grant.

 

Yellow Mills Road Bridge is closed and is working out as planned.

 

Superintendent Roets – reported snow fences are down and clean up is in the works.

 

Canal sweep clean up dates are April 25th and 26th.

 

Macedon Volunteer Ambulance Spaghetti Dinner with be held Saturday, May 3rd, 2014   4-7 pm at the Macedon Center Fire Department.

 

Councilman Maul - will check with Youth Soccer players about getting a group together to do some spring clean up at Bullis Park.   

 

Macedon Police Department will hold their semi-annual Prescription Medication Take Back Initiative/drop off at the Public Safety Building parking lot, 1620 Wayneport Road, on April 26th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The purpose of this nationwide event is to safely dispose of unused medications.

 

Resident Renee Herrmann was inquiring about the first responders training that handle children with special needs/disabilities.  Chief Colella did state that Officer MacNeal will be attending a 2 week “train the trainer” that covers this topic. 

 

Thompson Health will host an open house on Tuesday, April 22, to celebrate the opening of its Macedon Kachoria Family Practice and its newest lab draw station, both located at 1033 Route 31 in Macedon.  The open house will be held from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.

RESOLUTION NO. 122 (2014) POLICE OFFICER APPOINTMENT - MACNEAL

BE IT RESOLVED that Officer Stephen MacNeal be appointed on a provisional basis to the rank of Sergeant to the Macedon Police Department with the rate of MAPO contract effective April 12, 2014.
