A Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Macedon held February 9, 2012 at the Town Offices, 32 Main Street in the Village of Macedon and Naples/Marco Island KOA, 1700 Barefoot Williams Road, Naples, Florida was called to order by Supervisor William Hammond at 7:30 p.m.

RESOLUTION NO. 47 (12) HUMANE SOCIETY OF WAYNE COUNTY CONTRACT

RESOLVED the Town Board authorizes the Wayne County Humane Society Contract and authorizes the Supervisor to sign said contract.

Supervisor Hammond reported on the Macedon Business Alliance Group.  This group, promoted by both the Town and Village, will hold a public meeting on March 21 at the Town Hall to reach out to Macedon businesses and promote bringing businesses to Macedon.  Trustee Marcy Frey is the representative for the Village.

 

The May 10, 2012 Town Board Meeting will be held at the Public Safety Building on Wayneport Road.  Prior to the meeting starting, the Town Board will hold a dedication for the newly erected flagpole.

 

7:45 PUBLIC HEARING – AEY ENTERPRISES – 1607 COMMONS PARKWAY

 

RESOLUTION NO. 48 (12) WAIVE READING OF LEGAL

RESOLVED the Board waives reading of the legal notice published in the January 22, 2012 issue of the Times.

Don Lewis, Engineer for AEY, requested a Special Use Permit to allow AEY Development LLC to establish an office and maintenance building in an ORM (Office/Research/Manufacturing) District to be located at 1607 Commons Parkway.  The new shop will provide commercial maintenance of customer equipment, fleets and vehicles to fully utilize their maintenance staff.

 

All comments having been heard the public hearing was closed.

 

RESOLUTION NO. 49 (12) PUBLIC HEARING CLOSED

RESOLVED the Public Hearing be closed at 7:50 p.m.

The Town Board will not vote on the SUP until the Planning Board meets to prepare the Neg Dec on Monday, February 13, 2012.

 

Councilperson Pagano and Supervisor Hammond will be attending a Cable Meeting on Monday.  They will be discussing Wilcox, part of Quaker and Eddy Roads.

 

Wayne County Soil & Water is conducting a tree and shrub program.  Order forms are available at the Town Hall.

 

Councilperson Maul reported he has secured an offsite backup system through February 2013.  He also suggested adopting a roadside program in the Town of Macedon.  Highway Superintendent Roets will check with other Towns regarding their programs.

 

Wayne County will be holding a hazardous waste day.  Supervisor Hammond will follow up with a date.

 

Any IT problems employees encounter must be reported to the Supervisor’s Office for scheduling.

Town Attorney Anthony Villani suggested the Town Board pass a local law to allow countywide residency if the Town should decide to hire a Town Attorney as an employee in the future.  This would broaden the range from town residency to county.  The Town currently contracts for attorney services.  A local law will also be prepared to allow penalties for violators of the new smoking ban.  These will be drafted for the February 23rd meeting.

 

The Board welcomed the new Deputy Town Clerk Barbara LaBrake.

 

The Board signed a certificate congratulating Jake Habecker on earning Eagle Scout.  A ceremony will be held at the Town Hall on Saturday, February 11, 2012.

 

A discussion followed on the proposed Village/Town mutual aid ambulance contract.  Jim Beckenbach reported that the Village Board signed the contract at their Board Meeting Wednesday night. 

 

RESOLUTION NO. 50 (12) EXECUTIVE SESSION

RESOLVED the Town Board enter Executive Session at 8:29 p.m. to discuss assessment litigation, notice of claim, contract negotiations with Waste Management and Police contract.
