A Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Macedon held October 27, 2011 at the Town Complex, 32 Main Street in the Village of Macedon, was called to order by Supervisor William Hammond at 7:30 P.M.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Palmyra Scout Troop 97.

 

Judge William F. Kocher, Supervising Judge 7th Judicial District representing Judge Craig Doran attended at the request of Judges Crowley and Reinstein.  He spoke in support of replacing the retired bailiff and clerical salaries. 

 

7:40 PUBLIC HEARING – MACEDON CENTER VOLUNTEER

                                            ASSOCIATION CONTRACT

 

The proposed contract for the Macedon Center Volunteer Firemen’s Association authorizes $179,997 for the year 2012.

                 CONTRACT

 

The proposed contract for the Village of Macedon Fire Contract authorizes $88,704 for fire protection for the year 2012.

RESOLUTION NO. 201 (2011) VILLAGE OF MACEDON FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACT APPROVED

RESOLVED that the Town Board agrees to pay the sum of $88,704 for fire protection to the Village of Macedon, which includes coverage town wide by fire protection for the Macedon Fire Protection District for the calendar year 2012.

Supervisor Hammond introduced Paul Harkness to the Board.  Paul is the Town’s new Ambulance Medical Director.

Additional Officer

 

Accountant Kim Leonard received the Walworth Fire District figures today.  The request of $7,766 will be added to the budget under SF3410.400.

 

Chief Colella complimented the Board and Attorney on their work to resolve the worker’s compensation issue.  The Town challenged the County’s formula after receiving a bill in the amount of $400,000 for worker’s compensation.  As a result, the Town is no longer being charged for Village worker’s compensation, while charging the Village as well.

Supervisor Hammond commended Chief Colella on how quickly the jewelry store robbery was resolved.  The Chief said it was a combined effort with the Sheriff’s Office and State Police.

 

Macedon Police Department is participating with the National Take Back Drugs from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Public Safety Building.

 

Town Attorney Anthony Villani received a new purchase offer for the Macedon Commons Land.  The offer was $117,000 with the Town paying half the Phase I Environmental Audit not to exceed $900.  The Town will not be required to provide a survey.  This purchase is subject to a permissive referendum.

 

RESOLUTION NO. 210 (2011) MACEDON COMMONS LAND PURCHASE OFFER - YOUNG

RESOLVED to accept the purchase offer from Michael G. Young and authorize the Supervisor to sign purchase offer contract, subject to permissive referendum.

The Town previously acquired a conservation easement on the Harlan Hilton Property.  A portion of this property has been approved by USDA, State and Town Planning Board to sell subject to the easement remaining.

 

RESOLUTION NO. 211 (2011) HILTON FARMLAND TRANSFER TO SEARS

RESOLVED to consent to the transfer from Harlan Hilton, Jr. to Chris Sears pursuant to the terms of the conservation easement previously entered into and recorded.

Town Clerk Judy Gravino noted November 1st DEC will have First Come First Serve deer management permits. The units listed will be available for the entire day. Anyone who applies will receive one. The available Units are adjusted each night once they have met their quota.

Supervisor Hammond thanked Jim Youngman for all the time he spends operating the concession stand at Bullis Park.  He has done a tremendous job and donated his budgeted salary.
