Residents from Wilson Road voiced their concerns regarding the intersection of Wilson Road and Route 31.  They understand that Route 31 is a State Road, therefore, the State has jurisdiction relating to traffic control, and that the Town is conducting an independent traffic study.  A speed reduction request has been submitted to the State.  A petition was submitted containing 123 signatures stating, “It is our belief that the intersection of Wilson Road and Route 31 in Macedon needs dire attention. First of all what was once a three way intersection has now become a four way intersection and highway (Route 31) has gone from a two lane road to a two lane road with turning lanes, making a small, difficult to exit intersection next to impossible to navigate now.  In addition, a new guardrail has been erected in such a manner that visibility has been reduced to almost zero, especially for commuters in smaller vehicles.  Lastly, with all of the new store additions, such as Lowes (who also has an intersection in need of looking at) the new strip mall and Wal-Mart, the speed limit has not been reduced.  We are afraid for our lives and those of our children, when it comes to this intersection.  We would like to avoid the loss of life if at all possible.  All that we are asking is that a traffic light be installed and that perhaps the speed limit be reduced.”  Photos were submitted showing the difficulty in sight due to the guardrails.  The Town Engineer will consult with Bergman Associates regarding the concern that the traffic study at this time of the year would not take into consideration the traffic when school is in session.  Along with the findings of the traffic study, the petition will be submitted to Senator Nozzolio also.  Chief Colella will supply accident information.  Other petitions are being circulated.

Councilman McEwen entered the meeting at 7:47 p.m.
