A Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Macedon held April 23, 2009 at the Town Offices, 32 Main Street in the Village of Macedon, was called to order by Supervisor William Hammond at 7:00 P.M.

RESOLUTION NO. 122 (09) APPROVAL OF MINUTES

RESOLVED the Board approves the minutes of April 9, 2009 as presented.

Todd Blanchard, Macedon Town Ambulance Director gave his monthly report.  The public hearing for the Town’s Certificate Of Need for the Ambulance may be viewed at www.flremsc.org.  The outcome of the public hearing should be available on May 18, 2009 when the Finger Lakes Regional Council votes.  Our Ambulance answered 45 calls so far for the month of April and one return transport home of a Town resident. 

 

Chief Colella reported the Macedon Police Department has just completed Operation Safe Stop.  This involves monitoring motorists while school buses are stopped.  During the campaign 14 tickets were issued unrelated to the stopped school buses.  The state and federal grants have been completed. 

 

RESOLUTION NO. 123 (09) POLICE CHIEF – COLELLA PERMANENT

RESOLVED the Board conveys permanent appointment of Chief of Police to John Colella effective April 7, 2009.

Chief Colella commended the Sheriff’s Department for supplementing the Town’s coverage, which allowed Police to successfully capture individuals involved in the Macedon Elementary School break in.

RESOLUTION NO. 124 (09) HIGHWAY VEHICLE PURCHASE

WHEREAS sealed bid proposals were received and opened on April 20, 2009 for a new 2009 F-550 Dump or comparable according to specifications provided by the Highway Superintendent

 

BE IT RESOLVED the Town awards the bid to VanBortel Ford, the lowest responsible bidder for a new 2009 550 Ford 4 x 4 with 9 foot dump body at a bid price of $41,575 to be expensed from DA5130.200.

Notification the Town of Farmington will hold a Public Hearing on 4/27/09 at 7:00 p.m. at the Farmington Town Hall, 1000 County Road #8 to consider a use variance to allow applicant to utilize the existing barns at property located at 106 Hook Road, Farmington for the purpose of keeping animals.  The property is currently zoned RS-25 District.  This is located within 500 feet of Macedon town line.

 

RESOLUTION NO. 125 (09) JOINT SERVICE REQUEST GRANT – SANITARY SEWAGE DISPOSAL

BE IT RESOLVED the Supervisor is authorized to sign an agreement to apply for a joint service request grant in cooperation with the Village of Macedon, Town of Walworth and  Town of Macedon for the purpose of equipment related to sanitary sewage disposal.

RESOLUTION NO. 126 (09) MINUTE BOOK DIGITALIZATION

RESOLVED the Board approves Kirtas to digitalize the 1823-1851 minute book, expense will be paid by the Church of Latter Day Saints in Salt Lake City.  A copy will be made available for the Town and the Church.

RESOLUTION NO. 127 (09) MINUTE BOOK RESTORATION

WHEREAS Sylvia Farrer-Bornarth has begun the process of restoring the minute book of 1823-1851 by cleaning and repairing tears in most pages and has donated her time spent on this project

 

BE IT RESOLVED the Board authorizes Brown’s River to complete the process of restoration at a cost not to exceed $1100.

RESOLUTION NO. 128 (09) SUMMER RECREATION CAMP DIRECTOR

BE IT RESOLVED upon the recommendation of the Recreation Director Norb Miller that Christine Grier be appointed to the position of PT Summer Camp Director at a rate of $14/hour.

Recreation, Police and Ambulance will be linked from the Town’s web site.

 

SCORE will be using the IDA spot in our building on Wayneport Road and will give a presentation on May 7, 2009.  SCORE consists of retired executives that help new businesses as mentors.

 

Discussion followed on the Macedon Recreation Cheerleading pilot program.

 

Sandy Pagano reported on the Macedon Village Main Street Days May 1 - 3, 2009: Friday, May 1st Open House - American Legion Post 494 - 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, May 2nd Community Spruce Up Event - 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon

Saturday, May 2nd Wine Tasting at Covetts Cove - Noon – 4 p.m.

Sunday May 3rd11am – 4 p.m. Meet the Macedon Historians -11a.m. - 4p.m. and hear the History of Macedon. The Macedon Historic Home Driving Tour will be launched on May 1st. Copies of the tour may be picked up at the Macedon Village and Town Halls, Books Etc., Through the Garden Gate Florist and the MPA Office on Main St. This is a wonderful opportunity for the awareness of what Macedon has to offer.

 

Due to an historical building being required to be torn down in the Village, Sally Millick asked what regulations the Town had involving preservation of historical buildings.  Several historical artifacts were found at this site of the former mill.  The Town does not have any current code regulations.
