A Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Macedon held February 26, 2009 at the Town Offices, 32 Main Street in the Village of Macedon, was called to order by Supervisor William Hammond 7:30 P.M.

RESOLUTION  NO. 78 (09) APPROVAL OF MINUTES

RESOLVED the Board approves the minutes of February 12, 2009 as presented.

RESOLUTION NO.79 (09) OKONSKY - FT POLICE OFFICER

RESOLVED that the Chief of Police is authorized to hire Edward Okonsky as a lateral transfer for the position of full-time Police Officer at a rate of $23.07 per hour effective March 3, 2009.

BE IT RESOLVED that the Chief of Police is authorized to purchase (2) HP Compaq dc5800 desktop computers as per the attached specifications, through the Wayne County IT Department, at a cost not to exceed $1,580.00 total to be expensed from A3120.200.

Councilperson David Maul reported that he had attended the 2nd shared services meeting.

 

Councilperson Cassandra Pagano thanked the Board for the opportunity to attend the Association of Towns in NYC.

 

MACEDON POLICE DEPT. PRESENTATION

Macedon Police Chief John Colella did an excellent presentation on the plan of action, goals, and improvements to the Macedon Police Dept.

WHEREAS a Public Hearing was held on February 26, 2009 on the Cafalone Special Use Permit Application to allow Brian Cafalone to operate a small landscape maintenance business at 1214 Victor Road in an R-30 Residential District and

 

BE IT RESOLVED that the Special Use Permit be approved subject to the Small Business Special Use Permit Application, to expire December 31, 2009..

WHEREAS a Public Hearing was held on February 26, 2009 on the VanEtten Special Use Permit Application to allow Thomas and Joanne VanEtten to operate a small business selling coal and coal stoves at 2157 Barnes Road in an AR-40 Agricultural/Residential District and

 

BE IT RESOLVED that the Special Use Permit be approved subject to the Small Business Special Use Permit Application, to expire December 31, 2009.

MACEDON POLICE DEPT. PRESENTATION /PART 2

Chief Colella presented 4 of the Macedon Police Officers with pin awards.

   Officer Ed O’Konsky - commendation pin award

   OfficerThomas Cooman - 20 year service pin & Field Training Officer pin award

   OfficerWilliam Powell - commendation pin award

   Officer Earl Lergner IV - Officer of the Year pin award

 

RESOLUTION NO. 90 (09) SUPERVISOR TERM

WHEREAS the Town Board approved the Supervisor term to be increased from 2 years to 4 years by Resolution No. 71(09) on February 12, 2009 subject to a mandatory referendum at the November 2009 election

 

BE IT RESOLVED the proposition be worded as follows:

“Shall the resolution adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Macedon on the 12th day of February, 2009 which changes the term of the elective office of the Town Supervisor from a two (2) year term to a four (4) year term be approved

 

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Town Clerk is authorized and directed to take the necessary legal steps to submit the proposition for voter approval at the November 2009 general election.
