PAL-MAC ROBOTICS TEAM PRESENTATION at 7:30 P.M.

The Pal-Mac Robotics Team was invited to speak to the Board on winning FIRST PLACE in the First Finger Lakes Regional Robotics competition, on Saturday, March 15th at the Gordon Field House at RIT. The team received a basic kit of parts with very extensive instructions, and they had about six weeks to develop their robot. The team of 17 students and many mentors put in over 120 hours of work. Now they are trying to raise $11,000 for lodging and transportation to the First National Robotics Championship in St. Louis, Missouri. The robots were taken at the last competition and shipped directly to St. Louis so that no one can improve on their original design. Pal-Mac is the only team representing Wayne County in this World wide competition. This organization also offers scholarships to the participants on a 3 to 1 ratio in all areas of education. The team is holding a Sticky Lips BBQ Chicken & Pulled Pork Fundraiser, Saturday, April 9th at the Palmyra Fire Hall on Route 31 from 12:30 to 4:30 at $10.00 a ticket. Tickets for this Fund Raiser are available at the Macedon Town Hall ,for donations you may send to Pal-Mac High School for Pal-Mac Robotics or call Kevin Schlegel 315-597-3420 Ext.1501. The four students representing the team were Jake Spry, Jake Buckman, Adam Germano, and Kris Knapp, they did a wonderful job with their slide presentation and explaining the extent of the program.

Judy Longyear and Barb Herendeen representing the Garden Club requested permission to place a Blue Star Memorial Marker, honoring men and women of the Armed Forces of America on a rock in a garden at the Town Hall. It was suggested that a ceremony might be held at the Town Hall before the Memorial Day Parade.

Police Chief John Colella went over the 2010 Macedon Police Report that he presented to the Board at the Board Meeting on March 10th.He explained how the drug seizure money has paid for the mandated digitized fingerprinting system and the additional cost associated to the system, and many other updates to the department.

The Police Department also continues with public outreach such as educational seminars for fraud against seniors, scout presentations, drivers ed programs on drinking & driving, hand outs to youth at Halloween, and a Golf Tournament with proceeds going to the Town Ambulance. The department also takes advantage of any grants and awards available to help cut down on costs, and they were able to reduce the 2011 budget for the department by 4.3% over last years budget.

Supervisor Hammond reported that Jeff Sardisco would like to donate a tree and a plaque for Bullis Park in rememberance of his dog. The Board had no problem with this and suggested that he work with Highway Superintendent Roets for the proper location.
